Beat The Devil w. Vampire Weekend Jan 29...Updates....

Posted 11/30/2007 12:26 PM by beatthedevil

We've just been hunkered down lately, finishing mixing our new full length Idiot's Guide, grinding it out at our loathsome day jobs and slowly recovering from seven weeks of tour. I'm excited about the mixes and it's been great to watch our pal and producer Jay Braun ( www.negatones.com <http://www.negatones.com> ) work his sinister magic on our basic tracks but it's kinda been a bitch. Not practicing and not playing out has demonstrated to all of us how much we dig playing music, playing music together and playing music together in front of wasted people. So we're all pretty psyched about the news that came over the Beat The Devil wire yesterday-- we've been invited by Vampire Weekend to open up for them at the Bowery Ballroom on January 29th. It's good for us in a bunch of ways-- it'll be our biggest show to date, it's solid love from a band we really dig, it's Mitchell's birthday and roughly his one year anniversary playing in the band (I wonder if someone will be getting the Gatorade shower on the 29th...) and it'll kick off '08 in high style which is really cool considering how hard we worked and how many problems we had in '07, the Year Of The Setback. If you haven't heard Vampire Weekend, check 'em out here. Our pal Lexie from Harlem Shakes described them as 'varsity Harlem Shakes' which is both as accurate and as praising as anything I could come up with. And now back to that loathsome day job...
