Band Of The Day #2 - METRIC "Monster Hospital" (MSTRKRFT Remix)

Oh shut it, we're well aware this is oh-so-last-year but we heard a rumour that you can't get this song online anymore. Frankly this is far too good not to be dropped into any discerning DJ set, so—especially for all you lazy house party DJs out there—here's one we made earlier, originally featured on the b-side of our UK-release of "Poster Of A Girl" (we've got some copies left, if you can't find it anywhere, hit us up if you wanna buy/trade for one, email info@disrecords.com and we'll see what we can do). And if you only the know original and need it spelled out before you hit play, essentially it's what would happen if Phoenix threw their gay french disco paint all over the place and squelched things into a disco ball pummeling pellet of love.

If you don't know Metric, they're Canadian and what's known in the trade as a "cluster-fuck of dance-disco-punk", which is the trinity, basically. They can be ferocious and kitteny, something like Blondie cranked up to Robot Rock (the neu "eleven") or the Sonic Youth you can dance to or maybe the Pretenders on a spaceship or somesuch lazy description. Really they're many things to many people. A hero, a guitar genius, a fricken great rhythm section; sex, cinema, politik. Everything rock'n'roll promised and dance threatened or punk proposed but only ever posed (more questions).

Anyway, yeah, we quite like them. The band are currently hauled up writing their new album. Due sometime next year. More news as we get it.
