CHECK IT: Avenue D Call It Quits, Gets Remixed

Sorry to start your Monday afternoon off with some (slightly) bad news, but here it goes: after six years in the business, raunchy NYC electro band Avenue D are breaking up. They immediately reeled us in back in 2002 by sounding like the perfect balance between '80s female rappers JJ Fad and just about every house record ever released. But we suppose all good things must one day come to an end.

To pick up everyone's spirits, the kids over at The Music Slut blog featured an Erlend Oye (of Kings Of Convenience) mix of what may be Avenue D's best song, "2D2F", which brings into focus their signature blend of rap, electro, and just the slightest dollop of italo disco. Thanks for the good times, ladies.

Update: They gals will be playing two final shows before packing it up for good. Those dates are:

Dec 1st - Brooklyn, NY at Area 51
Dec  28 or 29 - Miami, FL at Studio A
