If you're a senior citizen who somehow knows how to work the Internet and are reading this, you may remember a little '60s Philadelphia girl group called the Crystals. Their 1962 non-hit "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)", possibly the most beautiful song about spousal conflicts ever written, was produced by Phil Spector, written by Carole King, and freaked out everyone so much that it was hardly ever played on the radio.

Luckily, Brooklyn folkies Grizzly Bear have recorded their version of "He Hit Me" for their brand new rarities EP Friend, so a whole new generation of music fans can sing along to lyrics like "If he didn't care for me/I could have never made him mad/So he hit me/And I was glad." Deep.
